In the European Parliament (Wed 1st February) there was a debate on the ‘Travel restrictions following US President Trump’s Executive Orders’.
We expected a spirited debate, which the UKIP MEPs always enjoy, but this one quickly turned very sour.
Nigel made some pertinent points regarding what President Trump has actually done, rather than what the politically correct crazy-brigade in the Parliament accused him of. However, during Nigel Farage’s speech he was heckled from the public gallery where people continually shouted “liar”.
Normally anyone in the public gallery who even politely claps a speech can expect to be instantly threatened with ejection by the ushers. But no action was taken.
This is strictly against the Parliament’s rules of procedure, and in any other circumstances the President would have instantly told them to stop, or had them ejected by the ushers. But no action was taken.
Who was the twerp concerned? It was no other than London Labour MEP Seb Dance, elected in 2014.
On the bright side, perhaps we should be grateful Seb is at last active in the Chamber. Since being elected in 2014 Seb has made only 21 speeches (not even one per month), compared to my figure of 293 (speeches and explanations of votes).
