Following the Jihadist terror attack at London Bridge on 3rd June, I wrote to Her Majesty the Queen requesting that she consider Mr Wayne Marques for a bravery award.
Mr Marques was the off-duty British Transport Police officer who risked his life, and sustained serious injuries, when he sought to defend the public against the three Jihadi terrorists.
the civilian equivalent of the Victoria Cross, or with a suitable award recognising his selfless and gallant bravery.
Her Majesty’s representative replied to me on 14th September advising that my request has been referred to the Honours and Appointments Secretariat for consideration.
We have heard nothing further of Mr Marques since the attack, and I hope, along with most of my constituents I am sure, that he has recovered from his injuries.
