In short:

1. We can ban ritual slaughter on UK soil (as other European countries have done).
2. We cannot ban the sale of imported ritually slaughtered meat under WTO rules.
3. But we could clearly label the meat with a shocking photo of the animial being slaughtered so that people know exactly what they are buying.
4. And it is actually against the law for such meat to be sold to non-believers of the relevant religions – a law that is never enforced.
